30 days of Thanksgiving

Day #14
Think Only Positive Thoughts

Today, strive to think only positive thoughts about people and your situations. It will lift you up and do good to them also.

Eph. 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

30 days of Thanksgiving

Day # 13
Little Things Make a Difference
My 'little things' list:
Smiles, a packet of Hot Chocolate stirred into a mug of coffee, sticky notes, Avon hand sanitizers, internet radio, popcorn, an hour for lunch, a good neighborhood to walk in...

Thank you, Father, for the little things that really weigh in as very valuable as I stop to consider them. You have made me to lie down besides still waters. I drink of your living water today. May it spring up from within me as you fill me. (I'm meditating in John 4 for my weekly Bible study.) May those I care about be filled with your living water today and may it wash over them, cleansing them from fear, anxiety and discouragement. May strength, hope, and confidence spring up within them.

Thoughts on Prayer

I've been reading from Nancy Dorner's, A woman's guide to spiritual power through scriptural prayer. Here's a challenge to me today:

Is my love for God evident to all who know me? If arrested by the enemy for practicing Christianity would there be enough evidence to convict me?

If I were to tithe my waking hours, how much time would I be giving to God?

I also like a quote from Frederick Beuchner that she has in the book:
"To confess your sins to God is not to tell Him anything he doesn't already know. Until you confess them, however, they are the abyss between you. When you confess them, they become the bridge."

Lord, work your love through me today. Arrest my heart to your presence with your wooings. If anything hinders our love, please reveal that to me so I can confess it to you. May other loves of mine pale in your presence.

My Prayer Today

Thank you, Father, for our Florida trip. What a gift to spend time with my kids and grandkids from afar. Today is full of good memories. I saw you in the beauty of the ocean waves and sand. In the simple pray of a grandchild giving thanks before a meal. You were there in the smile of my infant grandson and in my kids love for their children. Please keep our hearts close even though we are separated by miles. Help us love you more each day and may our love for family grow.

The blessing of the LORD makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it. Prov. 10:22

"This is what life is about; it's about giving. When you do receive back, it just makes that so much greater"---Haughes

Daily prayers for my kids

verse provided by Bob Hostetler, compliments of Pray! Magazine

Faithfulness: "Let love and faithfulness never leave my children, but bind these twin virtues around their necks and write them on the tablet of their hearts" (Prov. 3:3)

This necklace made by Aunt Lois symbolizes to me the love and faithfulness of family. Where human love has failed, God wants you to know His love and faithfulness always has you anchored in a safe place.
